Sumerian tablets are some of the earliest known written records, dating back to around 3100 BCE. They contain stories and myths that shed light on ancient Sumerian beliefs, including creation myths involving gods and the creation of mankind. In Sumerian mythology, the gods played a central role in the creation of humanity. One of the most famous stories is the “Epic of Gilgamesh,” which includes elements of the creation myth. According to these narratives, the gods created humans to serve them and perform tasks on their behalf. In some versions, humans were fashioned from clay mixed with the blood of a slain god. Which can lead others to believe clay is metaphorical for shaping mankind from a bipedal hominid. The gods were often depicted as powerful beings with human-like qualities but possessing supernatural abilities. These creation myths not only explained the origin of humanity but also reinforced the hierarchical structure of Sumerian society, with gods at the top and humans below them. The tablets provide valuable insights into the religious beliefs and worldview of ancient Sumerians.
The Annunaki are often depicted as a group of powerful gods who play significant roles in the creation of the world, the establishment of civilization, and the governance of human affairs. In relation to the Sumerian tablets, the Annunaki are prominently featured in many myths and religious texts found on these anscient artifacts. The tablets describe the Annunaki as a divine pantheon with various responsibilities and domains, such as Enlil, the god of air and storms; Enki, the god of water and wisdom; and Inanna, the goddess of love and war, among others. The Sumerian tablets provide detailed narratives about the interactions between gods and humans, including stories of creation, the flood myth (similar to the biblical story of Noah’s Ark), and the establishment of cities and societies. These narratives often involve the Annunaki in pivotal roles, shaping the cosmos and influencing human destinies. It’s essential to note that while the Annunaki are integral to Sumerian mythology and are referenced in Sumerian tablets, their significance and interpretation vary among scholars and researchers. Some speculate about potential historical or extraterrestrial connections.
I will cover the Epic of Gilgamesh in another blog. I will also post a blog with comparison between religious writings and extraterrestrial influences.
